FEMINIST, CONSERVATIVES, AND MEN WHO SUPPORT NO-FAULT DIVORCE ARE TO BLAME FOR AMERICAN TREND TOWARDS HIGH DIVORCE RATES STARTING IN THE 1970S.

Feminist should be blame for America's trend toward high divorce rates, starting in the 1970s because they are eager for changes. Women began to bring in ideas such as "Women doing housework were people outside the modern economic system, therefore they were like serfs or peasants." (Zinn) which encouraged themselves to pursue for jobs and not live "through her husband, through her children," (Zinn). This caused laws like no-faults divorce to form and increase the divorce rate in America.

Conservatives should also be blamed because they wanted society to stay the same, which means man have a higher stand than woman. For example, man was expected to work, and woman was always expected to " made the beds, shopped for groceries, matched slip-cover material, ate peanut butter sandwiches with her children, chauffeured Cub Scouts and Brownies" (Zinn) this was a stereo-type that the society created together, therefore it leads to woman wanting "change" which drives the divorce rates.

On the other hand, men who supported the no-fault divorce should also be blame for America's trend towards high divorce rate because by supporting they made divorce easy. Man started the "Jennifer fever". This means that old man were panicking with their middle age crisis, they started to find their wife no longer fulfilling, and desires younger woman. As stated in Schweikart's writing, younger women "they now became prey for the middle-aged wealthy men with "Jennifer Fever."...younger men may have seemed to sociologists to be a logical match, but in fact the two groups were biologically and culturally incompatible." This drives the divorce rate and leaving the society with marriage gap in the late 20th century.

Popular TV shows from the 1970s show that feminists were living in a society that was already changing and did not need changes in divorce law. For example in All In The Family, the daughter of a working class man says " No daddy I'm the one that is applying for a job...A job! you just said yourself how though it is to make ends meet." In the younger generation, society is already changing. Young women are starting to apply for jobs. Therefore, enforcing laws like no-fault divorce to gain women rights was not needed.

Mr. Hilly, I know!!! I was listening in classs, I was suppose to publish this as 4.4 instead of the previous post. I did that on 5/3, and I was going to fix it today by publishing this. Sorry for the confusion!
